I am out of here on June 3rd. I loved the Chase the Sun ride last year, and, I have not yet had the chance to conduct a Perimiter or "4 Corners" run yet. I know this is short notice, but, I gotta do this soon. I would like to take 4 days to to this. That way, we can enjoy the ride, and, we aren't rushed. I'd like to shoot for 30-3 May. Dave Darby mentioned that he might be able to go that weekend. For those that can't do the 4-day trip that weekend, we have a day ride scheduled to Chuncheon. Please let me know if you are interested.

Dave or Doug, do you a Garmin file with the Perimiter route? If so, can you reply to this thread and attach?

Bratt,

I moved this to the Club Rides forum. Wendell Moon is back and he may have some good routes for this ride as well.

Papa Wayne replied to the email blast "Count me in."

Put me on the list also. I will take the days off and scoot around the pen with you.

Brat

When do you want to run? And, it can be done in three days vice 4.

And, I'll look at home tonight for the route we used last time which only took us two days but did not acutllly hit all four corners and had some added mileage to get it above 1000 miles in 48 hours.

Matt...I can't make it that weekend. I get back from TDY on 30 April, and have to rush to Daegu with my daughter so she can take the SAT the next day & play in a softball tournament.
Wish I could join you on the ride though!!

Brat

Is this a Perimeter Run or 4 Corners? I ask since they are two differrent rides and a Perimeter Run is tough in four days since it requires running along the northern border and the coast . 4 Corners ia a lot easier since all you have to do is hit the 4 Corners so you can run on higher speed roads. I can handle both, but we need to consider the skils and experiences of other riders.

Recommend we have a separate planning meeting soon with all who plan to ride.

Matt,

B2 is right. We really need to link up and hammer out the details of this ride.

How about meeting this Wed evening?

I might be out of the net this week for training. Still up in the air. I definitely won't be here next week. I'll know tomorrow. I'll give a call if I can't make it, and, I'll post back on here if I can. I agree with you, too, Doug. We do need to sit down on talk about it. Hopefully, we'll see ya'll Wednesday. If I'm available, I'll call tomorrow to the Navy Club and set up the meeting, unless we'd like to do it elsewhere???

Here are the notes from the 1st 2010 Perimeter Run Meeting.

Meeting was held on 31 March, 2010 at 1800hrs, at the Navy Club Cigar Room.

Members in attendance:
Billy
Doug
Les
Jackie
Robert
Gunny
Myself (Matthew)

We're looking at running about 300 miles per day. Leaving out on April 30th, from the Townhouse, early enough to beat the traffic out of Seoul in the morning. I'm thinking 0700hrs. Last leg of the trip should have us back in Seoul NLT 1700 hrs, 3 May 2010.

The proposed route is attached. Clockwise around Korea. Mileage: 1106 miles. DAY #1 takes us North out of Seoul to Imjingak, along the DMZ East to the Northeast corner of Korea. Spend the night south of Sokcho. Day #2 Is South on Hwy 7, stop for overnight just before Pusan. Day #3 takes us along the southern coast, stop for overnight just before Mokpo. Day # 4 takes us along the west coast, bypass Daechon Beach, then, straight up into Seoul.

Things to bring:
Changes of clothes (please, bring more than 1 pair of underwear..... lol)
The normal Toiletries (Note: most Korean hotels have soap and shampoo available.)
Rain Gear. I'll be posting the weather forecast as we get closer, but, I'm bringing my rain suit, no matter what.
Toolbox, zipties, electrical tape, extra quart of oil, spare light bulbs.
Iron Butt.

Les / Doug, could you post your monetary contingent suggestions?

If there is anybody else that is interested in this ride, please let us know. Right now, we're at 10 bikes.

Estimates:

Gas - 350,000 won (based on 25 mpg and price of 1800won/liter)

Food,snacks, drinks - 200,000 won (based on 50,000 won/ day. YMMV )

Lodging - 150,000 won (three nights @ 50000 won each -- depends where we end up staying, could be a bit more or a bit less)

Total: 700,000 won

Thanks, Les. I'll probably bring around 500-600k, cause I'm cheap. I also plan on bringing the cooler, and packing a bunch of snacks in it.

Les, are you going to bring the scala rider headset, or run the CB Radio.

Billy; are you going to set your CB Radio up for this?

If I am able to get away from work I will go on this ride. I have a CB radio as well as a new Garmin I just bought. This should be a nice ride, work permitting.

Bratt,

Yes, I plan to have my CB radio ready for this trip.

Also, Dave Darby sent me the attached Garmin file with slightly different corner points.
