Although this ride is not on the club ride calender, some members have expressed interest in going so I am starting this thread in support of this ride.

Attached is the flyer and hotel info. I will post the route file shortly.

I will be the YMC point of contact for this ride.

Last day to pre-register is Wednesday, June 2nd. If you want to register through me please get with me no later than the June 2nd meeting.

Cost is $20 or W 25,000 per poker hand...play as many hands as you want.

I will post further details if/when they become available.

Here is the Poker Run announcement from SBU:

Guys and Gals

Here is an opportunity to get out and see some of Korea and the great roads it has available for us motorcyclists.

The Street Bikers United (SBU) is going to have their 1st ever poker run June 12-13. this is a rain or shine event. Hope you can make it. Two days of riding, camaraderie and a chance to win some big cash, we (SBU) are not spending a bunch on bands/music/food and stuff so we can give more money back to the winners. The start will be straight West of Danyang on Hwy 36 where it junctions with Hwy 3 with the overnight being in Danyang. The route to and from the overnight spot provide all types of terrain, hills, mountains, twisties, straight roads, country roads, a bit of city you name it it's probably included in this ride. Lots of hotels, restaurants, and bars in the Danyang area. Caves, mountain tops parasailing, rivers etc in the area

> Some (Not all) of the Cash Prizes Available are
> Best 3-card Hand Day 1
> Worst 3-card Hand Day 1
> Not telling ya Day 1
> Best 5-card hand Day 2
> Worst 5-card hand Day 2
> not telling ya 5th Card Day 2

EXAMPLE If we get 150 riders the payout for the best 5 card hand will be around $800. For a 100 riders it will pay around $500. With cash for all of the other hands I have listed.

Plus a 50/30/20 drawing with ALL the money getting paid back out. None to the club.

The whole purpose of a poker run is to get people out riding and see some of Korea. And have some fun, and as a bennie for me to drink beer with friends I love beer...

The ride is easily doable, the first day will be fairly long as you need to get to the start point by noon, we expect all bike to be in Danyang no later that 6 PM (5-6 hr ride) with drawings at 7 or 8 PM (depends on if people are still at dinner) And the Sunday (final day) the run will end at the start point at 1:30 PM with the drawings. This give everybody plenty of time to ride home. From this point it is about 3 hrs to everywhere. There are plenty of hotels in Danyang most are cheap and some are pricy ca;; and make your own reservation.

Friends in cages are welcome to come and be at party with us all. Or if you have somebody willing to be a chase vehicle for your group.

Sport bikers, Koreans, anybody who wants to get out and ride are welcome to participate. The more the merrier and the more $$$$$ to pay out. Its not a race but a ride at your own pace, as groups or individuals your choice.

Call me or one of the other members listed on the flier for details.

Please do not do a reply to all on this as there may be some riders who have departed Korea and I do not want to clutter up their boxes. If your out of country let me know so I can updae my lists

Thanks
Ride It Like You Stole It
Mark

Les,

Thanks for the map files. I have put together the Garmin file for Day 1, starting at the rest stop on the flier all the way into Danyang for the night (even found the river side park area I think). I didn't come up with a route from here to the start, but there are many ways, including our nice ride over the top of Namhansangson then continue south on 45 to 3, then straight east to the rest stop.

I will work on Day 2 tomorrow. Take a look at this file, compare with their map, and let me know how it looks please.

Also, I know the areas (28 / 34) near Yechon Airbase, as I have been to that place about 20+ times (it is where they have their "Top Gun" school). This route looks AWESOME to say the least, and haven't even looked at day 2 yet.

I think the route you mentioned (45, 3 and I assume 36)from Seoul to Danyang looks like the most expedient way to get there. If we had all day to get there could come up with a really great route, but time will be short.

Agreed on the route. I thought about other ways but then realized we need to be there before 10am, if not well before. I also wanted to ask the club about the idea of making this the official ride on 12-13 June, in lieu of the Beaver's BBQ ride. I know we have a lot of members wanting to go on this SBU ride, myself included. Anyways, I will plug out a route for the trip from Gate 52 to Suanbo rest stop as we discussed here and get a time estimate so we can decide on a departure time from Town House to make it there in time.

This sounds like a fund ride. Any thoughts on hotel accomodations in Danyang? Les - what's the best way to hook up with you to pay up?

Bob,

Les was working on getting our reservations done. He had a list of who was going and was going to call ahead I believe. Also, Les, my wife and daughter will be coming out too (in the cage) so if they have a bigger sized room please get one for me.

Thanks man!

I was waiting for any last minute additions or cancellations. I'll be making the reservation tomorrow (Tuesday June 8). I'll be referencing the list of motels provided by SBU. If you have a preference let me know ASAP.

All,

Spoke with Mike Furey, got all our points checked by him / SBU on google and made some corrections...I was off by a bit but not bad for never having been to these places If you downloaded the previous routes, please delete them and use this one below instead. I already removed the old ones from previous posts...

Hotel reservation is done.

Napoli Motel
Phone (043) 423-8386/8387

Cost will be W 40000 for each room.

They say they have a covered parking area, which is why I went with this place.

Thanks Les for making the reservations. Any recommendations on where to pickup rain gear around here? Anything simple will do - even ajoessi style!
